Lafet La Digue, the island's big festival, opens with a solemn mass, followed by a procession of the statue of the Virgin through the streets with singing and candles. Then come music, Creole food, sports tournaments and family gatherings. Visitors can follow the procession; book your boat and accommodation early, as the island is very busy that weekend.
